On a recent trip, we were disappointed in not being able to find a reported mezcal worm serving restaurant in Tijuana. Luck was upon us in Los Angeles, however. After stopping in a stripmall to pick up supplies, I noticed a Oaxacan restaurant at the other end of the parking lot.

"Hmm," I thought. "Isn't there a tradition of bug eating in areas of Oaxaca?"

So, having just finished a big lunch a few minutes earlier, I sauntered on over to the restaurant. I asked to see a menu, and to my delight, I saw that they served two different dishes featuring grasshoppers. Although I had just eaten, I had to have some of these for later. I ordered the chupalines a la Mexicana The order consisted of a bunch of grasshoppers with some chopped up peppers and melted cheese. I took them over to my brother's house, and we all tried some grasshopper tacos.
I thought the quality of ingredients was great, and I had seconds later during extra innings of a baseball game on television.

Looking on the internet, it seems there are two Los Angeles locations for this restaurant.

We went to Guetaguetza Restaurant on 11127 Palms Blvd at Sepulveda. There is another restaurant with the same name (and I suppose, chupalines) at 3335 1/4 W 8th St. Maybe I will see you there.
