3/29/2024: On the way to a room we booked in El Refugio, we had a crazy ride. We followed the GPS rather than the numbered sign, and this brought us into some off the beaten path villages. The road started getting very steep in places, and there was no turning around. Crazy drop-off driveways and very potholed roads until we finally joined back to the main road which was terrible also. On the way in to the coffee plantation, there was something in the road and the tire popped.

Once we got into the coffee farm, it was almost unbelievable. There was this mostly closed hotel with several fruiting trees coming up right next to the hotel. It was a parade of colorful birds as the sun went down.

The farm was not expecting us for dinner, so we had to make due with some local bread.



3/30/2024: We spent the morning on the balcony as there were some 7 fruiting trees full of parakeets and others. After breakfast, I walked with the caretaker for a bit in the forest.
