Site Report: Sierra de Manatlan

Sierra de Manatlan contains some of the only cloud forest on the Pacific Slope of Mexico. Access here is by a dirt road, and we were told by the office in Autlan that a 4-wheel drive was necessary. I drove up part of the way in my Toyota Corolla Station Wagon, and then gave up and parked on the side of the road. Walking ahead for a few miles, there were a couple of puddles where maybe you would have to push the toyota. The habitat in the area we visited was patches of cloud forest intermixed with cow pasture. The hiking was easy.
