Puerto Quito is a small town in Ecuador a few hours by bus from Quito. There are some small patches of remnant forest around here, but for the most part, the area has been cleared for agriculture. I stayed in a cabin a few miles from town that was very close to a riparian area as well as a patch of forest that was left standing due to lack of farming potential (lots of big rocks, and very steep).

Trips

Ecuador

12/19/2006: I stayed at Cabanas Del Rio for three nights. The cabin was very good for birds, and the owner set me up with some good spots. Just across the street was a patch of remnant forest, and a 10 minute walk took you to a good riparian area.
