Visits

  • 2010-02-16: After a late start from Mexico City and a stop for pizza in Zitcuaro, we arrived in the area of the monarch reserve late in the afternoon. Most of the hillsides here have been stripped of trees, so we walked around the farming areas for awhile. In the morning, we were hoping for a long hike up to the monarchs. Unfortunately, once we reached the reserve, it was a very short hike to the area of the monarchs. Furthermore, chilly weather kept most of the monarchs inactive.
