Gopher Tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus)

Seacrest Scrub is a few acres of native vegetation that they somehow forget to turn into a suburb.

2011-07-12: We made a detour in Boynton Beach as a last ditch effort to find the Florida Scrub Jay. Some old lady in the parking lot said they were all over the place, and she didn't much care for their racket. I searched the entire parcel (which took all of 15 minutes), and I was able to find a gopher tortoise. As for the scrub jays, when I arrived at the back of the parcel near the railroad tracks, I could hear a plethora of scrub jays mocking me from the surrounding suburbs. I never did see one.
