Trips

Around The World in 66 Days

1/24/2013: Our next stop in Vietnam was a two-night trip into Cat Tien National Park. I was not very hopeful in seeing much wildlife after a week in Vietnam, but it turns out that there are still a few large animals running around in Cat Tien. During a short walk around the area by the visitor center, we saw the Singapore shoe guy that we had run into a few days earlier in Dalat. We all signed up for a nighttime safari where we saw most of the mammals.

The next morning, we were up at the crack of dawn to look for some gibbons, and again, we were not disappointed as we saw a pair of gibbons from fairly close range.

After visiting the gibbons, we did a bike and hike trip to stay overnight at the crocodile lake. The lady at the visitor's center was trying to talk us out of staying overnight here, and when we arrived, we saw that the accommodations were quite rustic. After dinner, it was determined that we would be sharing the room with about 7 billion mosquitoes and the bats that love them. It was really cool to lie under the mosquito net and watch bats flying around over the bed.
