Kenya Solar Eclipse
10/24/2013
: After a very long 24 hours in the air, I arrived in Nairobi. I met my friend in the airport, and we headed out to our hotel just outside the gates of Nairobi National Park. Following breakfast, we did a driving safari around the main roads in the park.
Despite the proximity to the city, there were plenty of large mammals in the park, and ostriches grazed with skyscrapers in the background. The park is mostly or maybe completely surrounded by fencing, however, so there is a bit of a zoo feeling about it. Still, it was a lot wilder than one would expect so near a large city.
