1/24/2014: We stopped off for a day of city life. We went to the championship game for the Dominican Baseball League, and saw Licey take the crown. The game ended late because of a rain delay. Did you know that you can buy a bottle of rum at the game?

After waking up late, we fought some pretty horrendous traffic to get to the botanical gardens. There do not seem to be any traffic laws in Santo Domingo, and there is a lot of pointless horn honking. Taxis stop at the green lights. It took a long while to get to the garden.





1/27/2014: After hearing that the West Indian Whistling Ducks were seen in the Gran Canada, I made the second trip into the city. It would have cost $40 extra to drop off the car at the airport, so I figured it was better to spend the $40 and see a rare duck.

I walked quickly to the spot where the ducks had been seen, and sure enough, I found several of them to end the trip.
