The tayra, Eira barbara, can be found in the neotropical forests of Central and South America. It ranges from Mexico south to Bolivia and northern Argentina and also on the island of Trinidad (Mares et al., 1989; Reid, 1997).

Saw a badger-like animal on the entrance road to the reserve. After seeing a Tayra in Ecuador in 2023, I realize now what it was

Seen running quickly across path just after sunrise. Based on the possibilities, it was either this or possibly a striped skunk... although I never saw a skunk move as quickly as this mammal.
