This species is endemic to Madagascar where it is found in the southwest, southeast and northwest (Glaw and Vences 2007), over an area of nearly 226,000 km
. It is most common in the southwest (M. Vences pers. comm. January 2011), and has been recorded between 15 and 240 m asl.
