This species is endemic to Madagascar where it is known from a few localities in the north of the island, from Nosy Be in the west to Marojejy in the east (Andreone
et al. 2000), including Ankarana (Raselimanana 2008) and the forest fragments at Daraina (Yoder
et al. 2005, Rakotondravony 2006). It is presumed to occur widely between the known sites, over an area of approximately 23,300 km
. Elevation ranges from 10 m (Andreone
et al. 2003) to 1,175 m asl. (Rakotomalala and Raselimanana 2003).
