3/16/2023: We arrived in Kota Kinabalu where we spent the night on the town. One of the first challenges was to find the "real" Coca Colas. In Malaysia, Coca Cola company has instituted a scam where there are these 1/2 real and 1/2 diet cokes in a can that looks just like the real coke cans but say "kurang kalori" (less sugar) in fine print on the can. This foul-tasting concoction full of artificial sweetener is a real drag, and most of the shops have no idea. Really annoying negotiations where shop keepers insist that it is the "real thing" were an ongoing theme in Malaysia and Singapore.
